Two tilted iPhones against a dark green background. The one behind, out of focus, shows the Hidini remote control with its Listen, Capture, Notes, Contrast and Translucent buttons above a large touch area. The one in front shows Mirror mode: a transcribed interview question, an AI answer with a syntax-coloured Python snippet, and a box at the bottom for typing another question.

Mirror Mode - The Whole Conversation, on Your Phone

product-update remote-control privacy

The paired phone used to do one thing: drive the overlay like a trackpad. It now does two. A dropdown at the top of the screen switches between Remote control and Mirror, and Mirror shows the whole conversation your Mac is having.

What the Mirror Shows

Everything the overlay does. The transcript of what the interviewer said and what you said, labelled by voice. The AI answer arriving word by word as it is written. Fenced code with its syntax colours and its monospaced layout intact, so a snippet reads the same on a phone as it does on the Mac.

There is a box at the bottom too. Type a question, send it, and your Mac runs it as though you had typed it into the overlay. The answer streams back onto both screens.

Why It Matters

An overlay nobody else can see still sits on your own screen, right beside the camera. A phone propped next to the laptop is somewhere your eyes already go, and a glance across at it looks like a glance at notes, because that is what it looks like.

And once the conversation is on your phone, the overlay has nothing left to do on screen. Hide it with its shortcut and Hidini keeps listening, keeps answering, and keeps feeding your phone, while your Mac shares a desktop with nothing on it.

The Details

  • It waits when you are reading. If an answer is still being written and there is more below the fold, the chat holds its place instead of scrolling out from under you. A Follow new messages button takes you back down when you are ready.
  • Clear works on both. The bin next to the message box wipes the conversation on the Mac too. It asks first, because there is no undo.
  • Nothing is kept. Disconnect or close the tab and the mirror empties. The phone holds the conversation only while it is connected.
  • Nothing leaves your Wi-Fi. Your phone reads the conversation from your Mac directly. No server of ours in the middle, no account, and the link refuses to run over cellular.

Full details are on the phone screen mirror page, and the trackpad half of the dropdown is covered on the phone remote control page.
